Getting Back to Being a Jewellery Maker

Welcome to my first ever blog post, where I’ll be sharing what I’m up to, the ideas behind my designs and goodness knows what else I’ll be coming up with!

I started making jewellery when I found a bead shop in Kingston-Upon-Thames 8 years ago, I had just moved from my home town in Devon. I had always enjoyed crafts; making cards for special occasions, making projects for school, but had never thought of jewellery making. Walking into the bead shop, I was overwhelmed by the number of beads you could get, and that was it, I was hooked!

I would then busily make for friends and family and a couple of years down the line, got onto Etsy. I created my shop and made a start.

I did this for a couple years and got sales, without much marketing or a social media presence. My main traffic came from contacting product review bloggers, where I would send an item of their choice and they would blog about it.

Life then got in the way; I got engaged and we started looking at buying our first home. The time flew by and my jewellery making days were well and truly forgotten about.

A couple of weeks before we got married in February, I had all this time, I have no idea how, we only bought our house back in September and our impending nuptials were just weeks away, I decided to find my beads, get the books out and research into how I can make my hobby into something more.

So here I am, my first blog post, looking at everything differently and positively… long may it last!
